Bliss By Heather

So, it’s the end of the week and thus, the last post about items in the Bliss By Heather shop. It’s been a lot of fun focusing on one person’s shop all week and Heather’s beautiful items made it really easy for me to do. I learned a lot of things while doing this interview-week.

  1. Thinking of interview questions is a lot harder than I EVER thought it would be.
  2. I use the words “beautiful”, “awesome”, and “great” A LOT
  3. I really like writing about other people’s work, especially when it’s as awesome, beautiful and great as Heather’s.

I decided to end this week with a bang. Take a seat, this is going to be a long ride.

For those of you just joining us, take a look at Heather’s Interview here and the three previous posts: 1. 2. 3.

Ready, ok.

As Heather mentioned in the interview, she’s from Canada. She lives in Toronto. I’ve never been to Toronto myself, but I do have some in-laws who live there and some friends. When I do go to Toronto, I want to go up for the Toronto Film Festival. Toronto really embraces their film festival and I would love to be part of it. Do you know what I would recommend for Toronto Film Festival patrons?

This 5 Pocket Large Messenger in Kleo

Here’s why. The Toronto Film Festival is all about film, right? Film = movie theaters = concession stands = expensive snacks. I’m American and right now the dollar isn’t so strong, so that makes these snacks even more expensive.*

*I’m not really advocating sneaking snacks into films. Support your artists (especially independent artists) and the theaters that show their work. The profit margins are small, so buy those snacks at the concessions.

Anyway, I would be packing the Toronto Film Festival guide, a camera (in case I see a celebrity), my tickets, and a sweater. Theaters are always cold. I would also carry this because it’s a beautifully awesome bag.

Heather’s first trip abroad was to Amiens, France. I didn’t know anything about Amiens, so I looked it up. It’s in Northern France on the Somme River. Jules Verne, author of Around the World in Eighty Days, served on the city council in Amiens until his death in 1905. Pretty cool, eh? Anyway, if it’s summer and you find yourself in Amiens walking along the Somme River, reading Around the World in Eighty Days, don’t let your hair get in your eyes. How are you going to do that? By using one of Heather’s headbands. Specifically, this Trendy Fit Headband in Black and Purple Paisley (below).

Heather’s also lived in Japan. Now, if you were going there, or anywhere, I would definitely recommend her Trendy Tampon Carriers (above). I actually have a different tampon carrier I got as a gift. It’s in a checkbook style case. There are two reasons why I prefer Heather’s style more. They are extremely cute. They have a little pocket for liners. Wait - there’s three reasons! The third is that this style allows you to grab any of the four in the pocket easily. The checkbook style case makes it inconvenient to grab one towards the bottom. Wouldn’t they make a good gift for your tea party friends? I think so.

Finally, Heather spent some time in Korea. I happened to have lived in Korea, but I don’t really remember it. One cool fact about Korea that you never would have guessed is that my dad was an extra in the movie Inchon (filmed in Korea and about a 1950 UN Operation). Some background information. My dad was in the Philippines when Apocalypse Now was being filmed there and he was offered the chance to be an extra. He said no. HE SAID NO TO APOCALYPSE NOW! So, when he lived in Korea and the chance was offered for him to be in a film starring Lawrence Olivier and Jacqueline Bisset - well, he said yes. Never heard of Inchon? Well, it turned out to be such a horrible movie, it was never released. The best quote I found about it was this: Peter Rainier of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner: “Quite possibly the worst film ever made…stupefyingly incompetent” oh and “A $1 Million Dollar Sweepstakes was offered to entice film goers into the theaters, and still, no one went!”. My dad, though, he had a great time. I know for a fact that the reason the film was awful has absolutely NOTHING to do with him.

Anyway, aside from this movie that came out of Korea, the country’s a very beautiful and stylish place. Check out Seoul Style. You are going to want an equally stylish cosmetic case to have with you while in Korea. My recommendation? Heather’s Cosmetic Carry-All in Red Retro Rain. It’ll work for you if your close to home. Anywhere. It’s fabulous.

That’s all from me for today. I’m not posting anything all weekend as I have something really cool planned for next week. Besides, this was a really long post.

Thanks again, Heather
