Holiday Cards

I worked on some handmade cards for the holiday this weekend. Thought I’d show a sneak peak of the fronts of the cards and throw a question out there to you:

How do you take GOOD pictures of cards??

Why can’t I take a good picture of items or products? I’ve read every tutorial, I’ve taken two classes. Anyone have any tips that really worked for you? I want to be able to take better jewelry, paper, and felt products pictures.

In the meantime… here’s the glimpse:

hello! i happened upon your blog by way of decor8, and i’m loving what i’m seeing. i make cards too! i have the same problem that you do because i want to capture the little details of the cards, but i don’t like to use my flash because that makes them look stark and rigid. i always find some natural light to display them in. i prop them on my bedroom windowsill or take them outside and find a cute spot to place them. when the natural light hits them, all of their best features are showcased! hope this helped! :-)

  • Awesome cards! I have to take pictures of my layouts and cards, and after several different techniques, here’s what works for me….I turn off any upper-ceiling lights, place the item on my table, I use NO flash and I set my camera to ‘micro’ so it will pick up small images without blurring. This works well!
