My site was nominated for Best Hobby Blog!

HEY! People reading this blog. Read this post. HOLIDAY TIPS.

There are some people who read this site who found it through places other than etsy. This post is for you!

The holiday season is fast approaching and I just wanted you to know that you have options other than the local mall or department store. It’s etsy. Etsy sells handmade items and a lot of these items are better than anything you can find anywhere else. Let me warn you, there are a LOT of items for sale and while it may seem a bit intimidating, it also means you will be able to find really unique items for your diverse group of friends. Here are some tips to make your search a little bit easier.

1. Take a look at my supporters. A lot of folks find this blog via entrecard. I try to limit my projectwonderful or entrecard ads to those that are travel or craft related (though this is not always the case). I suggest that you click on those ads (to the right of this post) and see what those people have to sell. You can also check out some of the bloggers on my blog roll. A lot of those folks have etsy shops. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

2. Think of the people you want to buy gifts for. Imagine they’re a blog post. Imagine you had to tag them or add metadata or something. Now take those words and go to the search function on etsy and type some of those words out and see what comes up. This multi-page list is your possible “what to buy for x” list. Click around and see if you like something. Don’t just look at the first page, look at the page that relates to your favorite #, the last page, every page. Each page is different.

3. You can look for items within a certain price range and guess what, YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PEOPLE ASKING IF THEY CAN HELP YOU!!! AWESOME!

4. Sign up for an etsy account… it doesn’t cost ANYTHING. If you see something you like, make it a favorite while you look around for more items.

5. You can also look for items made sorted by color, time, geographic location, connected hearts, member-curated galleries, categories and more!

6. Come back to this site to see recommendations on specific items and/or shops.

I’ll have more tips coming soon.

If you are reading this post and you are an etsy seller, please leave a comment or send me an email with your shop address and the next time I post holiday tips for non-etsians, I’ll link to your site.
