Holidays Around the World
I love learning how different people celebrate the holidays. Intelligent Travel is doing a series called “The World of Christmas” to share what’s happening around the globe. So far they’ve focused on three cities. Moscow, with an ice rink on Red Square; NYC, where there will be a Winter Festival Weekend THIS weekend; and London, where handmade goods can be purchased at the Christmas Fair open until January 18!
So, head on over and see how the rest of the world celebrates… and keep checking as they add to the list.
As for my area of the world, the local museum will host Father Christmas, the YMCA is having a breakfast with Santa, the local college has an ice skating rink, there have been parades, tree lighting events, handmade fairs, Santa handing out candy in local neighborhoods and more.
What’s happening in your neighborhood?

Thanks!
I never realized that Christmas is celebrated differently around the world in a unique style and its truly amazing to read about this. It looks like heaps of fun back on your side, I sure do wish I could experience the entire celebration. Back here on the sunny side of Maldives, we don’t celebrate Christmas since its a Muslim country! What is celebrated here is EID - which recently happened. Perhaps I should jot a thing or two what is happening down here during holidays! It’s interesting to learn about different celebrations around the world.
Here in the Philippines, we all look forward to the Christmas season. Most of the places here put up Christmas decors, companies give out great parties to its employees, and it’s a time to be extra generous to people. Since the Philippines is a dominantly Christian country, we have this tradition called Simbang Gabi wherein people go to mass early in the morning for 9 straight days before Christmas. Once you get to complete all 9 days, you get to make a wish!
