Hong Kong Fashion, I want more!

In the 2006 Lonely Planet Bluelist Book (here’s a link to the latest Bluelist book), a must-do in Hong Kong is compliment the locals’ stylish fashion. Actually, Lonely Planet, it’s impossible not to compliment their clothes. Everywhere I looked, I was amazed by the color combinations, shoes, accessories… everything. Layers upon layers of shirts over shorts or skirts or jeans. Like Flava Flav’s watch necklace, the cell phone and ipods are accessories. I studied a local at my hotel who was wearing the following: Black patent leather 1.5 inch heels, dark blue fitted jeans, black loose shirt, a big purse, several necklaces, a cellphone on a chain, an ipod on a chain with the earphones plugged in with one earpiece wire around her neck and one hanging down, big sunglasses, manicured short black hair. It was perfection. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect outfit.

As a non-Hong Konger, I worried about fitting in and immediately went shopping. To help people like me, I found Hong Kong stores make it difficult NOT to be stylish. Many outfits come with accessories already. Necklaces that I wouldn’t have considered to go with the outfit were included in the already affordable price. I only wish there were ways for me to get the same clothes here. In the meantime, Hip Hong Kong, will fulfill my Hong Kong fashion needs
