Linking it Up
This post on Let’s Talk Organizing has made me want to post links to some of my favorite blog posts in recent weeks/years. So, get ready for some fun.
- How to make moisturizer.
- Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Pumpkin Butter Cakes
- Chocolate Chip Amish Puff Cookies
- Memory Blocks (I just might have to try to make these myself one of these days)
- The Literature Network
- London Wallpaper - I wish they had it in other cities too
- Halloween Countdown Calendar - Neat idea, using “advent” calendars for other holiday
The Summer is Over
Not that I haven’t enjoyed the blogs I’ve been reading over the summer, but I’ve noticed a nicer quality of blogs the past two days. This is evident in my constant need to do some blog link round-ups. I think we’ll always think of summer as a time to relax and even if we don’t have to go to school anymore, September will always mean getting serious about work. It’s evident in the blogging community (and slightly intimidating!). So, here are some blogs posts that I’ve recently enjoyed. Check them out and add your own if you’d like.
- The conversation of “inspiration” comes up often. I personally think that if most inspiration is found via the web, it’s probably more likely to be copied, so I suggest going out to the world to find some of that inspiration. Where can you find inspiration? Well, Food Flower Style has compiled a list of 12 places to find inspiration. The over-all theme is, find inspiration by living life and reflecting on your life.
- The 100 Year Diary. How cool is that. It seems to be 100 pages where you can devote one page to each year of your life. I love this.
- Blossoming Tree has created an Etsy Treasury of items from regular visitors to her blog. I think that’s so incredibly thoughtful and wanted to take the time to thank her here!
- There is a trend that’s beginning that is probably the best trend EVER. Think about the best trend you know of to date… … … it’s better than that. The trend? Cities around the world are going to start banning BILLBOARDS! Jaunted mentioned today that São Paulo did it back in 2007 and Intelligent Travel reported that the Chinese city of Xi’an (where the Terra Cotta warriors hang out) is banning them to. And finally, we have a city in the states that’s looking to ban them to. We’re slowly working towards eliminating air pollution and now visual pollution, good to start somewhere, right
Tutorials I Love
There are a ton of great tutorials on the web. I’ve taken some of my favorites and put them here for you. My criteria are things that are affordable, doable and useful. But, I don’t mind if it’s really cool and not really affordable, doable and useful for me.
- Make a notepad. These would make really, really, really awesome gifts for the holidays. Your friends would love you forever. Link to The Small Object’s Post.
- How to make a repeat pattern on Design Sponge. It makes me want to redo all the website backgrounds that don’t know how to properly do a repeat pattern.
- How to take professional looking photos of your jewelry from Craft Boom!
That’s all I have for now. They’re wonderful and useful. If you know of any others, please let me know in the comments!
Around the Web
Ali Edwards has been answering a lot of questions from her readers. This link (if you scroll down) gives some great information if you are looking to start your own scrapbooking career. Her advice can be applied towards many creative careers.
Craft zine wrote about etsian’s CraftyHedgehog surprisingly adorable knitted dissected rat.
Over at decor8, guestblogger Jessica Jones from How About Orange has a great, relatively afforable and doable wall decor tutorial.
Northxeast always has great blogging advice. Two great articles are: Are You Blogging with Your Neighbors and the equally interesting NxE’s Fifty Most Influential ‘Female’ Bloggers. I love this article because aside from listing the bloggers, NxE also tells you what the blog is about and why it matters.
I’ve always said that I want to turn this blog into a food blog. Instead of bringing food here, I actually started another blog that’s just for food. It’s not ready for public consumption yet, but when it is I’ll definitely list it here first. In the meantime, I appreciate a good cooking school. My favorite travel blog, Intelligent Travel, posted about a Mexican Home Cooking School - SIGN ME UP!
