The Joys of Apartment Therapy
Like many people who love blogs and subscribe to them, I have about 500 blogs in google reader. It often meant that I had to mass-delete blog posts because I couldn’t keep up with them. Over the weekend, I deleted all non-read posts and started from 0. Now, instead of always having at least 500-1000 unread posts, I wake up to less than 100 and can immediately and quickly glance through them. I realize that this may be why I now feel there are more quality blogs out there (which I posted about yesterday). They always were there, but I was just never had a chance to read them.
The best thing that came out of the big “google reader clean-up of 2008″ was my re-discovery of Apartment Therapy - which I will now refer to as AT for the remainder of this post. They post a zillion or so posts a day, and I missed about 99.999999% of them. Before the days of google reader, I was obsessive about checking AT every, I don’t know, 10 seconds. When I added it to the reader I just couldn’t keep up. And just like the sites in your own hometown, you know it’ll always be there so there’s no reason to make the effort to go. But, oh, how I have missed it and it’s so worth the trip daily.
I love the changes they’ve made since I last read it regularly. Most importantly, I love that I am again reading AT regularly. And because I now read it regularly, I can show you the following which is something I HAVE TO HAVE. It’s from 5.5 designers. The only thing that makes me sad about this is that I know that I’ve missed a lot in the past year or so.
