Turn onto Southport Avenue plus it’s difficult to resist the neon beacon that lures cinephiles from across Chicagoland with eight letters—Music that is flickering. It’s a vow of greater than simply activity, however an overall total experience. A residential area of strangers coming together on the expectation of the familiar red velvet curtain increasing toward the twinkling, star-covered roof. Symbolic of Chicago’s go-to venue for separate, foreign, cult, and classic movies.
Walk by the solution screen and move back in time to once the ‘20s were still booming while the theater first opened—just 8 weeks prior to the Great Depression—on 22, 1929 august.
