404 A glimpse of two National Parks

A glimpse of two National Parks

Why, hello! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’m currently in the process of redesigning my site, so please excuse the dust.

I had a few minutes today to check-in on my favorite link-up, Instagram Travel Thursday. My plan was just to read posts like I normally do, but then I had to comment, and then I had to participate. So here I am.

I found out this morning that the government shut down has ended. That means that people will once again have access to the US National Parks. I was in the US before the shut down and was able to see a few of these National Parks while they were still open. I’ll be sharing some of these images today.

We were in San Francisco during the America’s Cup. If you ever get a chance to visit a city hosting this competition, I recommend it. While I’m sure the views of the bay are beautiful throughout the year, they are fantastic with the big boats and colorful sails. Here’s one of those boats in front of Alcatraz.

After San Francisco, we drove to Yosemite National Park. This will get it’s own post soon. In the meantime check out this no-filtered photo. If I wasn’t there I wouldn’t think this type of place was real.

So please remember:

  1. So happy to hear that the strike is over! Love your photos and would love to see America’s Cup – can you believe that we lived three years in the silicon valley and I didn’t even make to Alcatraz – I’m going to have to come back there for that!

    • We didn’t make it to actual Alcatraz either. It was already sold out. I think it’s common when you live close to someplace that it’s taken advantage of, unfortunately.

  2. Love the pictures! You guys need to visit Yellowstone, it is amazing. How do you get your instagram photos to transfer like that?

    • Thanks! We definitely need to visit Yellowstone.

If you’re on your computer and go to your instagram (or any instagram) account. When you click on the picture there’s three dots on the bottom right hand side. Click on that and click the option to “embed”, then go to WP and paste that into the “text” part of the post. You won’t be able to see the photos until you preview post – or maybe even when it’s published.

  3. I am so glad you linked up with this week, and I’m so impressed that you got it together so quickly.

I am also tickled that the shutdown is over. You’ve got some great photos for our link-up this week.

  4. Popping over from IG Instagram Travel Thursday!
I am so glad the shutdown is over. Imagine traveling all the way to Yosemite from across the world only to have it closed. I would be so disappointed!
I have lived in the Bay Area for over 25 years and am a bit embarrassed to tell you I have never been to Alcatraz. Can you believe that? Must fix that soon.

  5. Huarrrraaahhh you’re back! And with awesome photos to book. That one looks like a painting! Brilliant.

  6. I was just going to say that I thought it looked different around here! Love it! And love that the shutdown is over so people can enjoy Yosemite and beyond.

  7. Great pics, as always. And so happy to see you back in business!!!

  8. Ha ha, so good that you are participating this week! I would LOVE to visit the Yosemite National Park one day, I look forward to your post on it!

  9. Beautiful photo of Yosemite! Inspires me to see more of the US national parks. We loved being in the Rocky Mountain National Park 2 years ago, end of October, when it was very quiet (though closed for the season at higher elevations)…Glad the national parks are open again after the government shutdown! 🙂

    • Thanks, Alex! I’m also inspired to see more national parks, whether in the US or abroad.

I don’t think I’ve been to the Rocky Mountain National Park, but the Rocky Mountains in general are beautiful so I can only imagine!

  10. Yoir site looks great on mobile! I’d love to see the West. I’ve never been anywhere lose to California.

    • Thanks, Missy! There are still a few kinks we’re trying to work out.

California is at the same time everything I imagined, and nothing at all like I thought it would be. But, I still recommend it. At least once!

  11. Great photos -I’m glad that you were able to visit prior to the shutdown. I would love to visit Yosemite National Park some day and I didn’t even realize that Alcatraz was a National Park!

  12. Adorable pictures, hard to appreciate the natural beauty surround you!
